1. Who we are
WorkWords is an app and website operated by Garra Labs ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. The short version
WorkWords works without an account. Your learning progress stays on your device. We do not sell your personal data. Payments are handled by Apple or Google, and the free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which you can control or remove with WorkWords Pro.
3. Data stored only on your device
Your goal, level, languages, reminder time, learning progress, review schedule, streak and saved words are stored locally on your device. We do not receive this data. Daily reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device, and pronunciation uses your device's text-to-speech voice.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to validate purchases and restore them on your devices. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID, purchase and transaction information, and basic device and app information.
5. Advertising (free version)
The free version shows rewarded ads (only when you choose to watch one) and an occasional ad at the end of a study session, served by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and ad interactions to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see them, and prevent fraud.
On iOS, the advertising identifier is only shared if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google's consent tool before personalized ads are shown; you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. WorkWords Pro removes ads.
6. Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix errors — for example which screens are opened, words and sessions completed, paywall views and crashes. This information is linked to a random app-instance identifier, not to your name or email.
7. When you contact us
If you email us or use the contact form on our website, we receive your name, email address and message, and use them only to answer you.
8. Legal bases
We process personal data to provide the service you request (purchases and restoring them), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, analytics to improve the app, answering messages), and with your consent where required (personalized advertising and tracking). Under Brazil's LGPD and the EU/UK GDPR, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.
9. Sharing
We share data only with the service providers listed above (Apple, Google, RevenueCat) acting for the purposes described, or when required by law. We do not sell personal data. Some of these providers are located in the United States; transfers are protected by safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Retention
Data on your device stays until you delete it in Settings → Your data, or uninstall the app. Purchase records are kept for as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet legal and tax obligations. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Support emails are kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to know who we share it with, to object to processing or to withdraw consent. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 15 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority — in Brazil, the ANPD.
Residents of US states with privacy laws can opt out of targeted advertising by declining tracking, changing their device's ad settings, or using WorkWords Pro.
12. Children
WorkWords is made for professionals. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
13. Security
We use reputable providers and limit the data we handle. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
14. Changes
We will update this policy when the app changes and show the new date at the top. Important changes will also be announced in the app.
